Enhancing Interoperability across Chemistry, Materials Science, and Photon/Neutron domains through Metadata and Vocabulary
Groups: IG RDA/CODATA Materials Data, Infrastructure & Interoperability, WG International Materials Resource Registries, IG Chemistry Research Data, IG Research data needs of the Photon and Neutron Science community, IG Metadata
Short introduction describing the activities and the scope of the groups:
The IG Chemistry was founded in 2016 and aims to be the bridge between the chemistry community and wider research data initiatives, and initiate activities that overcome barriers to reuse of chemistry research data.
The IG MDII was founded in 2013 and aims to foster exchange of computational & experimental materials data through shared online repositories, standardized formats/terminologies, & open programming interfaces.
The WG IMRR, founded in 2016, aims to link the growing number of materials resources that exist or are being developed (datasets, websites, repositories, registries, etc.) in a way that makes it easier for the mat'l community to find and share relevant information and data.
The Metadata IGs were founded in 2012 and aim to work closely with Domain groups.
The IG Photon/Neutron IG was founded in 2012 and aims to address infrastructure issues for the Photon/Neutron community.

- Building awareness across the domain groups of each group's vocabulary & metadata efforts.
- Analyzing the draft MatSci Vocab and identifying problems.
- Discussing possibility of incorporating evolving MatSci as high level materials description.
1. Short introduction of the groups' individual efforts and proposal to implement draft MatSci across domains for
high level materials-related description (all IG/WG representatives) 30 minutes
2. Discussion to identify gaps and problems (all participants) 40 minutes
3. Discussion to create pilot and evaluate effectiveness (all participants) 10 minutes
4. Summary of the proposed next steps (speaker names)
