Tuesday 25th March 2014 (Pre-Conference)
Pre-conference event 1: RDA for newcomers: How can YOU get involved?
This session is aimed at newcomers, to explain the history of RDA, to help you sort through the governance, organising structure, and various Interest Groups and Working Groups. The sessions will be short, and time will be divided evenly between informative presentations, and Q&A/discussion. For newcomers, this is perfect preparation for getting involved in RDA, and for hitting the ground running the next day at the Plenary.
Attendance: Please ensure that you either registered for this on the conference registration form or have advised the organisers that you wish to attend.
Location: Note that the location for this session, Royal Irish Academy, 19 Dawson St, Dublin 2, is different than the main conference location.

Plenary Session: New IG/WG group proposals chaired by Prof. Stefan Decker, INSIGHT Centre for Data Analytics The lifeblood of the RDA are the interest and working groups. The purpose of this session is to give the participants of the RDA plenary the opportunity to voice and measure the interest in topics which are not yet covered by existing interest and working groups or proposals and see if there is a critical mass. For that purpose we ask participants in this session to put forward a topic which may lead to an interest or working group. We then will ask participants to sign up to groups which are of interest to them. We will provide the means for a first short informal meeting to see what the topic may contribute to the RDA and what follow up activities can be. So if you are willing to put forward to topic, please be prepared to step up, introduce yourself and the topic you would like to put forward! And please be prepared to sign up to exciting activities!
