- Welcome additional participants interested in working on this topic
- Identify data granularity use cases, including known problems regarding data granularity and unknowns/questions to explore.
- Present existing approaches for segmenting datasets and collections in some domains, and evaluate their merits and variance.

Task 1: discuss similarities and differences observed within the scenarios from the lightning talks; identify conventions & evaluate their pros & cons
-
Task 2: what are the known problems regarding data granularity; what are the unknowns that we would like to learn/questions you have
-
Task 3: collect their own use cases
Result collection from the Break-out groups (10 min.)
Discussion on survey to collect existing challenges, solutions and approaches for granularity (10 min.)
Wrap-up (10 min.)
All professionals interested in how data can and should be represented at different levels of granularity
The emerging Data Granularity Working Group arose out of a Data Granularity Task Force (TF), sponsored by the Data Discovery Paradigms IG. The TF conducted BoFs at P15 (see session notes) and P16 (session notes). The TF has been meeting regularly on a monthly basis and has drafted a Case Statement for a Data Granularity WG, and to better understand the existing needs and landscape for data granularity practices. At time of session application, the Data Granularity WG has submitted the Case Statement for formal RDA review, and thus has a status of not yet endorsed.
Not yet endorsed, Case Statement is beginning formal RDA review.
