The Dutch Research Council (NWO)
NWO is one of the most important science funding bodies in the Netherlands and realises quality and innovation in science. Each year, NWO invests almost 1.5 billion euros in curiosity-driven research, research related to societal challenges and research infrastructure.
NWO selects and funds research proposals based on recommendations from expert scientists and other experts in the Netherlands and abroad. In addition, NWO has ten research institutes of their own where internationally leading research is conducted. NWO encourages national and international collaboration, invests in large research facilities, facilitates knowledge utilisation and manages research institutes. NWO funds more than 7,500 research projects at universities and knowledge institutions.
Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure (PSDI)
PSDI is a UK initiative that accelerates discovery in chemistry, materials science and related disciplines by connecting researchers with the data, tools and expertise they need. PSDI enhances existing research workflows by making scientific data easier to find, access, share, manage and reuse, supporting more reproducible, efficient and impactful research.
PSDI enables new approaches to data-driven research and innovation. Through creation of a connected digital infrastructure, bringing together diverse data resources, digital services, training and community networks PSDI helps researchers realise greater value from experimental, computational and facility-generated data; while promoting interoperability, data standards and best practice across the physical sciences.
Funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) theme, PSDI works in partnership with researchers, facilities, institutions and other organisations across the UK physical sciences community to strengthen the foundations for a more connected and data-enabled research ecosystem.
Research Data Alliance – United States (RDA US)
RDA-US is the United States regional group within RDA, coordinating US participation in Working Groups and Interest Groups and ensuring American researchers, data professionals, and infrastructure providers are represented in global data standards development. RDA-US is stewarded by a volunteer Steering Committee, with fiscal sponsorship provided by Code for Science & Society.
A current flagship initiative is the RDA-US 2026 Cohort Program, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The program selected 14 US-based researchers and data professionals from a competitive pool of applicants and paired each with an experienced RDA mentor, supporting their transition from newcomers to active contributors in RDA Working Groups and Interest Groups. Cohort members are engaging on topics ranging from PID strategy and FAIR data implementation to metadata standards for AI agents in autonomous science workflows.
