Equality and Diversity Programme for RDA Plenaries (EDPP)

Support Plenary attendance for LMIC Members

The RDA aims to deliver plenaries that are truly global, culturally diverse, and inclusive. After a trial launch during VP22, we are reopening the RDA Plenary Equality and Diversity Programme (EDPP).

The EDPP invites RDA members to support plenary participation for those members residing in low, lower-middle, and upper-middle income countries (LMIC). For LMIC members, cost is often a major deterrent to participation in international conferences, including RDA Plenaries.

With the EDPP, we hope that through the generosity of our community, we will see increased engagement from LMIC members, including regions in the Southern hemisphere.

Are you interested in supporting the attendance of an LMIC member? Or are you an LMIC member interested in benefitting from this support? Read the below information for details on how to get involved.

  • Support tickets will be allocated to LMIC members on a first-come, first-applied basis
  • LMIC members will need to apply for support to receive these tickets (“support tickets”)
  • If there are more support tickets purchased than LMIC support request applications, these tickets will be made available to support registration for next plenaries.
  • Applicants must be an RDA member (Check your membership status or join RDA here
  • Applicants must be a resident of an LMIC country: see https://datatopics.worldbank.org/world-development-indicators/the-world-by-income-and-region.html and be able to show proof of status (bank statement, utility bill, payslip, residence permit or lease agreement)
  • Applicants must submit a short application form
  • As registration tickets become available through the support, applicants will be notified on a first-come first-served basis
  • Accepted applicants will be required to share feedback to the RDA Secretariat on their experience (100-250 words)

Questions on this programme can be sent to the RDA Secretariat at [email protected]

Cancellation policy

  • Notification before 28 March 2025 (23:59 UTC) will be refunded after deduction of the fees imposed by Whova. Refunds will be made to the participant’s nominated account. Potential bank charges will be borne by the registrant.
  • Notifications received after 28 March 2025 (23:59 UTC) are not refundable. Replacement delegates and registration transfers are accepted.

Please note that the RDA does not have a systematic funding source to cover the cost of holding plenary meetings. Organisers aim to make fees as cost effective as possible. Plenaries cannot be offered for free since organising them involves costs (software systems, staffing). This is an additional way to support the sustainability of the RDA.
