RDA 24th Plenary Meeting – Fully Virtual

  • Date

    07 – 11 Apr, 2025

  • Location

    Virtual (online)

The Research Data Alliance 24th Plenary meeting (RDA VP24) was held fully virtually from the 7-11 April, 2025, under the theme: ‘Data for emerging technologies’.

Data is the backbone of almost every emerging technology and field of innovation we see today. Impactful and innovative technologies, ranging from Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing to Synthetic Biology, rely on vast, complex datasets and robust data management practices to drive breakthroughs.

In today’s landscape, it is nearly impossible for any innovation to advance without a strong data connection. This event will explore how data serves as the critical link across these diverse technological landscapes, each demanding unique skills, standards, and best practices to thrive.

The RDA 24th Plenary spotlighted the vital role of data across rapidly changing technological landscapes. We examined ways to overcome social and technical barriers in data access, sharing, and interoperability, and outlined robust data governance for emerging technologies.

VP24 was held via a platform Whova [hu:va] and covered all global time zones. The programme was scheduled with plenty of gaps between sessions to allow global attendees to balance the participation with daily commitments.
