Breakout Sessions 4

Day 2 begins with four more highly interative breakout sessions, including:

how the Community-based catalogue of requirements for trustworthy Technical Repository Service Providers Working Group (TRSPs WG) is exploring methods of extending the umbrella of trust to a wider group, specifically repository service providers.

creating actionable recommendations for translating Data Versioning Principles, with the Data Versioning IG.

a collaborative session between RDA Ireland and the FAIRsharing Registry Working Group to define the scope and benefits of an RDA Domain Ambassadors programme.
the kick off of the Harmonised terminologies and schemas for FAIR data in materials science and related domains WG.

Newcomers Session

For first-timers to an RDA Plenary, we are hosting several Newcomers Sessions to welcome new members and answer thier questions about the RDA organisation.

33 participants attended the session at 9:30 UTC today and we answered the following questions:

What is the RDA?
How is the RDA structured?
How do I get involved in the RDA?
How do I create an RDA group and recruit members?
How to run a group across multiple time zones?
Are there grants for students / early career scientists for attending RDA meetings?
How can I make the most of the Recommendations and Outputs that relate to my interest?
How do organisations benefit from becoming members of the RDA?
What are the mechanisms used by the RDA to support academic networks in Open Science?

Breakout Sessions 5/6

Another busy afternoon (or morning, depending on your time-zone!) of breakout sessions. We covered:

The importance of software in the research cycle with the Software Source Code IG
interest in an RDA National Data Services Interest Group
the CARE principles and their application to physical samples and derived research output
recommendations for ‘non-traditional’ or ‘non-text’ process and products (NTROs) to reach parity amongst other research products
ways of connecting researchers with the tools and guidance they need to develop their skills and understanding for metadata-related tasks.
the evolution and monitoring of DMPs, and of the DMP Common Standards WG
the RDA FAIR Data Maturity Model (FDMM) Specification and Guidelines.
