Levels, Rooms and Getting Around

IDW 2025 will take place on the Plaza Level (red) and the Mezzanine Level (yellow). The Plaza Terrace Room is the room for the main Plenary Sessions, which was purposely picked with accessibility front-of-mind as it is a flat room (rather than a tiered auditorium). Hearing-loop capabilities can be fitted upon request through emailing the Conference Secretariat.

The registration desk will be located on the Plaza Level Foyer, just to the left of the escalators. We kindly ask that if you have accessibility requirements, to email the Conference Secretariat ahead of IDW 2025 to best accommodate your needs. All delegates are required to check-in to the conference upon arrival at the registration desk.

Both of our booked levels on the Plaza Level and Mezzanine Level are directly beneath each other, so delegates will not have to travel far to reach the appropriate rooms. Both the Plaza Level and Mezzanine Level have escalator access in the centre of the foyer spaces, as well as elevator access close by. Download the IDW 2025 Accessibility map.

Conference breaks and catering

Meal breaks will be served on both the Plaza and Mezzanine foyers. This will provide two spaces for delegates to enjoy catering and will also help with the flow of getting everyone served in a timely manner. IDW 2025 also has exclusive access to the Plaza Terrace (outdoors) which has tables and chairs as part of the hire. Delegates can use this space during the breaks to sit down and eat, as well as for one-to-one meetings.

Accessibility at BCEC

* The BCEC offers a complimentary wheelchair service for visitors. The wheelchairs are available for loan on a first come, first served basis and can be collected from the Information Desks (at the Merivale Street Foyer and the Grey Street Foyer).
* Hearing loops are installed in all meeting rooms, and all internal lifts have braille signage and control panels.
* Accessible unisex toilets are located throughout the Centre and are located adjacent to major restroom blocks.
BCEC strives to provide safe, equitable and inclusive access for all visitors.

Sustainability at BCEC

The host venue, BCEC has achieved EarthCheck Platinum Certification in 2021 and has a number of initiatives designed to support sustainability:
* Leftover meals from IDW 2025 will be donated to Foodbank, Australia’s largest hunger relief organisation, to support the homeless.
* Over 80% of BCEC produce is sourced from local suppliers to reduce carbon footprint.
* Organic waste dehydrator turns 100kg of organic waste into 10kg of nutrient rich biomass to reduce kitchen waste by 85%
