Update from last Active DMPs IG session at RDA plenary in Philadelphia

Hi all,

I realise we have been very remiss in providing an update from the last plenary. We had a useful IG session reviewing progress on the two DMP related Working Groups and deciding if new areas of activity are needed. There were some suggestions to progress work with funders, map out the different stakeholders interests and pilot the Common Standard which has been released. RDA DMP Common Standards - status and call for contributions

Dear colleagues,
This is a short update from the RDA DMP Common Standards working group.
During the last plenary in Philadelphia we have presented the common standard for machine-actionable DMPs [1]. You can find here [2] its specification, examples, FAQs, links, etc.
We would like to hear from you about your experiences of working with the standard. Please contact us in case you have already used it, or if you're just planning to do so.

Publishing DMPs

Thanks for valuable input to this issue. I also would like to add a correction: The recommendations in the openAIRE report I referred to was not directed to the ERC, but to EC. Thanks to Dagmar Meyer for pointing this out to me.

Best regards,
Philipp

Re: [dmp-common][rda-datamanagplans] Publishing DMPs

Dear Philipp,
I just came back from Tromso, visiting the data/information literacy colleagues at UIT :-)
In Nijmegen (the Netherlands) we are busy rebuilding the DMP Online tool attached (with a tool ) to our CRIS system (Metis). We thus will archive DMPs on a university server, but registration-wise they are connected to projects, researchers and (future) datasets. We included an option for the library (central RDM support)/data stewards at our research institutes to check and approve these DMP’s.

Publishing DMPs

It is becoming increasingly common to make data management plans (DMPs) public. The Norwegian Research Council have recently updated their policy adding a section where they encourage Norwegian research institutions to publish the DMPs of their researchers (cf. – in Norwegian –  https://www.forskningsradet.no/no/Nyheter/Datahandteringsplaner_sikrer_gjenbruk_av_data/1254032409350/p1174467583739).

Exposing DMPs group update

Dear all,
With the new year here, and several months passed since our last call, I wanted to update you on co-chairs activity. Firstly, looking forward to the forthcoming plenary 11 in Berlin we got a session proposal in, which you can find here:
https://rd-alliance.org/wg-exposing-data-management-plans-rda-11th-plena...
We expect to hear whether that session is accepted towards the end of January, so we’ll schedule a call early February (more on that soon).

Webinar on H2020 DMP survey

In Summer 2017, OpenAIRE and the FAIR Data Expert Group ran a survey on the European Commission’s approach to Data Management Plans and the FAIR guidelines on data management.

We've just been finalising the report and will publish this in early January in advance of a webinar where we discuss results. Ellen Leenarts (DANS-KNAW) and Sarah Jones (DCC) will present:
