Future of the RDA group, Long Tail of Research Data

Dear members of the RDA Long Tail of Research Data Interest Group,
The Long Tail Interest Group was launched in 2013. Since its inception, the Interest Group has been a valuable mechanism to support discussions related to managing long tail data and has met regularly at the RDA plenaries to discuss topics of interest and address shared challenges. It is one of the most populated groups in RDA (276 members) and has produced a number of outcomes:

Plenary 14 Session Submission Deadline Is Thursday!

With Plenary 14 (P14) scheduled to occur from October 23-25, the deadline for session submission is this Thursday, 27 June at 16:00 UTC.

Submissions for meeting sessions are open to working groups, interest groups, joint groups and birds of feather (BoF) meetings.

Please note, however, submissions are accepted from group chairs only. If you submit a session request for a group, please notify the other chairs of that group.

Plenary 14: Call for Sessions, Collocated Events, Posters and Registration Now Open!

Taking place from 23-25 October 2019, the 14th RDA Plenary will take place in Dipoli, the nature-immersed building of Aalto University, Helsinki, in Finland, “one of the happiest countries in the world”, states Per Öster, CSC-IT Center For Science Director and Co-Chair of the P14 Programme Committee.

Recommendations

Hi all,

The bulk of the meeting in Barcelona was taken up going through the recommendations from our draft document, "Supporting Long-Tail-Data in Research" (attached to this message).

Wolfram and I are incorporating the excellent feedback from the meeting now, and then we will have a final review of the document by several volunteers over the next two weeks.

Meeting in Barcelona

Dear members of the Long-Tail for Research Data Interest Group,
We have an in-person meeting in conjunction with the RDA Plenary 9 in Barcelona scheduled for April 6, 2017 from 11:30-13:00
The major topic for the meeting is the draft paper, "Supporting Long-Tail Research Data" prepared by Wolfram Horstmann, Amy Nurnberger, Kathleen Shearer, Malcolm Wolski, with input from the Interest Group at the last Plenary (the latest draft is attached to the message)

RDA IG has completed Matrix of Use Cases and Functional Requirements for Research Data Repository Platforms

Dear fellow RDA Long Tail IG members,
The Repository Platforms for Research Data (RPRD) Interest Group (IG) has completed the Matrix of Use Cases and Functional Requirements for Research Data Repository Platforms. The matrix contains functional requirements scores that can be used to assess research data repository platforms and to prioritize functional requirements for development and adoption.
