FAIR Data Maturity Model: core criteria to assess the implementation level of the FAIR data principles

The RDA FAIR Data Maturity Model Working Group develops as an RDA Recommendation a common set of core assessment criteria for FAIRness and a generic and expandable self-assessment model for measuring the maturity level of a dataset. The aim is not to develop yet another FAIR assessment approach but to build on existing initiatives, looking at common elements and allowing the group to identify core elements for the evaluation of FAIRness. That will increase the coherence and interoperability of existing or emerging FAIR assessment frameworks and it will ensure the combination and compatibility of their results in a meaningful way.

The WG brings together stakeholders from different scientific and research disciplines, the industry and public sector, who are active and/or interested in the FAIR data principles and in particular in assessment criteria and methodologies for evaluating their real-life uptake and implementation level.

Do I-PASS for FAIR?, a self evaluation tool to measure the FAIR-ness of an organization

by Jacquelijn Ringersma

Dear colleagues in the RDA FAIR maturity group, Although this message is a little out of scope, I would like to draw your attention to a simple 'tool', which was developed in the Netherlands (by the National Coordination Point for RDM) to self-assess the performance of an organization with respect to how well the organization support researchers to be FAIR. Not FAIR maturity of data, but FAIR maturity of an organization. Here is some accompanying text and a link to the flyer and editable pdf. I just thought it might be of interest for you all (and ready for suggestions).

Second draft of the report on FAIR Metrics for EOSC out for comments

by Francoise Genova

Dear colleagues, The EOSC FAIR Working Group is tasked to provide recommendations on metrics to assess FAIR data in EOSC. A second draft of the report is released to gather community comments.  The report contains an analysis of activities relevant to the definition of FAIR Metrics in the EOSC context. It makes recommendations on the definition and implementation of metrics, proposes a set of metrics for FAIR data in EOSC to be extensively tested, offers an analysis of gaps and potential opportunities for extension, and defines priorities for future work.
