The deadline for abstracts to the AGU Fall Meeting 2018 in Washington, DC, is coming up very soon (1 August 2018, 23.59 EDT). AGU Earth and Space Science Informatics has, again, proposed some exciting sessions and is now calling for abstract submissions. I would like to draw your attention to the following sessions:

The Software Heritage archive is now open to all

Dear all,
I'm delighted to share big news: the Software Heritage archive is now open to all! After three years of hard work building the walls and filling the shelves of this great library of source code, we are excited to finally welcome visitors who access its content.
On https://archive.softwareheritage.org more than 4 billion files from more than 80 million origins are available since June 7, 2018, date of the official opening ceremony held at UNESCO, in the presence of sponsors and partners of Software Heritage.

Software Deposit and Preservation - draft guidance and workshop

Hi All,
Along with my colleague, Mike Jackson, we have been working on a Jisc-funded project as part of their Research Data Shared Service pilot programme to develop guidance for software deposit and preservation for different stakeholders.
We have now released draft versions of this guidance for feedback, and would be grateful for the comments of the RDA software community.

EU Copyright reform

Dear all,
I'm quite excited at the idea of meeting you all again next week at the
RDA 11th plenary, and make progress together on our common agenda.
In the meanwhile, I would like to attract your attention to some dangerous
provisions that concern our own mission as researchers, developers, and
archivists, contained in the forthcoming EU copyright reform directive.
