Updates to the PID KI recommendation draft: Digital Object policy and use cases

Dear all,
we should finalize the recommendation soon so it can be submitted well
in advance of P12. As part of this, I have
- included a description of object policies
- included adoption sections for ENES and EUDAT
I would like to ask whether other use case providers can fill in a
similar short description in the adoption section. Also, the object
policy structure could benefit from another pair of eyes looking over it
to look for missing elements or gaps in object management processes.

Draft slides for P11 session & outputs presentation

Dear all,
I have drafted a slide deck for the 5 min. output presentation and the
session introduction, see attached. I put RPID, ENES, DOI and EUDAT up
for the current list of adopters. Probably something we can also discuss
at our call in 1 hour.

Re: [pid-kernel-info-wg] [pid-kernel-info-wg] Connection of PID KI WG Meeting Call...

Thanks Tobias and all. Sorry I missed the call, I got back from travel late the night before and needed to sleep in.
I think the agenda looks pretty good. I’ll try and do an assessment of how the proposed profile maps against DCO, but I don’t promise anything. If I can, I will report.

Kernel Information: Use cases and adoption stories for P11

Dear all,
as just discussed at our virtual meeting:
We have our guiding principels / draft recomemndation document and will
further flesh this out over the next weeks, but what we are missing are
more concrete descriptions of use cases or, even better, concrete
adoption and implementation stories. This is also relevant for the
P11 session, because we want to have a few adoption/implementation
presentations. RPID and DOI Foundation are good candidates, but surely
there are more.

Call on January 18, 13:00 UTC

Dear all,
as discussed at our last call, we will have our next regular call
tomorrow at 13:00 UTC. Our intention was to use this to discuss a first
outline of a recommendation. Unfortunately, I have multiple successive
meetings tomorrow and resolving all scheduling conflicts has proven
impossible so I will not be able to attend tomorrow's call.
Beth, are you available tomorrow and can you or anyone else take over?
Otherwise I'd suggest to cancel the call.
I also know that I still have some action items regarding the principles

Correction of Kernel Information call time: Thu, January 4, 13:00!!! UTC

Dear all,
my mistake - I miscalculated the time. It was correctly given in the

Dear all,
we will meet again on Thursday, January 4, 2018, 12:00 UTC.
Call details to follow (I'm assuming we can use the IU Zoom again?).
Please also think about whether we can use that timeslot for a 2-weekly
regular call until P11. We should discuss and decide at the call.

Dear all,
I have just handed in the session proposal for the PID Kernel
Information meeting at P11, based on the Google docs draft. Thanks to
those who provided comments and additions to the draft. We can figure
out the details of the presentations etc. in the weeks before the plenary.

Kernel Information P11 session proposal

Hi,
I've updated the session proposal document according to what we
discussed; the focus is on presenting our recommendations and getting
feedback, less on discussing new contents (with the exception of the
"next steps" point).
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BfrsbsNUX4SK8GYIvcx2sf-MgfeVkqsRGty8...
So now we know what we are up to. Good start for 2018 I'd say. :-)
Unless I see any changes, I will submit this end of the week.

Re: [pid-kernel-info-wg] An initial needs assessment for the PID Kernel

mark,
thanks for the thinking through that you've done. Your analysis raises numerous critical questions and offers an important perspective. One point of clarification at fundamental level:
Your treatise equates a PID to a Boundary Object (as in, a PID "IS A" Boundary Object). I'd equate a Boundary Object to a Data Object (as defined in the Khan data object architecture). In latter case, the PID names a BO or DO but is not itself a BO or DO.
