Meeting minutes and next steps

Dear all,
last Wednesday, the last virtual meeting of our WG for the time being took place. Please find the minutes at [1]. During the next weeks, probably until the end of January, we will work on the early adoption of our recommendations [2] and on completing the recommendations document itself. Currently, we have initial adopters for 4 platforms:
Stefan Funk – DARIAH Repository (import, maybe also export)
Rolf Krahl – ICAT (export)
David Wilcox – Fedora Repository (export, maybe also import)
Thomas Jejkal – KIT Data Manager (import and export)

Reminder: Virtual Meeting Tomorrow

Dear all,
Tomorrow, at 14:00 UTC our next virtual meeting takes place. This will be the last meeting before entering the early adoption phase of the WG. This means, that during the next month(s) we’ll focus on the adoption of our recommendations [1] and on finalizing the document itself. Currently, we have four initial adopters planning to have a (prototypical) implementation for demonstration purposes available until P11. If anybody else also wants to contribute with an adoption of our recommendations for a particular platform, please feel free to join the meeting tomorrow.

SWORDv3 and introductions

Hi Folks,
Just a quick message to introduce myself, as I've just joined the list this
morning. I'm Richard from Cottage Labs, and I'm working with Neil
Jefferies (Oxford) and Dom Fripp (Jisc) on a new version of the SWORD
protocol. There has been some discussion on our stakeholder list about
packaging formats, and the work of this group came up. I'm here to learn
from you, and to see what opportunities for re-using
ideas/semantics/formats there might be for SWORD. It would be great for us

Short summary from Plenary 10

Dear all,
I hope everybody who attended P10 is back home and enjoyed the plenary as I did. The two sessions where our group was involved, the Recommendations and Adoption plenary session and our WG meeting, where really great and we received good feedback.
This was primarily based on the fact, that we had many attendees bringing up lively discussions and new ideas. Hopefully, some of the newcomers to our group who attended P10 will stay and continue with further, beneficial contributions.

Metadata for collections

Dear all,
I got a question for all the metadata experts out there:
If I understand DataCite right, you'll always have one metadata record
for one single resource and as a consequence one separate metadata
file for each resource. So if you have for instance a collections of
n datasets and you want to describe the collection as a whole and also
every single dataset, you will need n+1 metadata files. These
metadata records should refer to each other via the RelatedIdentifier
property with relationType IsPartOf and HasPart respectively.
