Dear RDA BioSharing WG members,
Hope you are all well and that those of you lucky enough to be at the
RDA 7 Plenary in Tokyo managed to catch Susanna's talk at the joint
ELIXIR IG-BioSharing WG session (and if not, here are the slides
).
Here are a few updates from the BioSharing registry:

Dear RDA BioSharing WG members,
Hope you are all well. Here is a brief update on our progress with the
BioSharing registry.
1. New documents for your information:

Ever wish you had a handy primer on BioSharing? Somewhere that

BioSharing Registry of Standards survey - your input required

Dear RDA-BioSharing WG members,
As you may recall, in December we launched a 10 question survey to
assess the needs for a *registry of standards in the life and biomedical
sciences*, to help enhance BioSharing as part of our work in the ELIXIR
and NIH BD2K infrastructure programmes.
Despite a good response so far, we feel we can do better! Could we ask
to you /*c*//*omplete the survey (if you haven't already) and
disseminate it*/ among your peers? I have copied some text below, that
you may wish to use when spreading the word.

Registry of Standards - share your feedback, help us to help you

Dear members of the RDA BioSharing WG,
We would like to ask you 10 questions to assess your needs for a
registry of standards in the life, environmental, and biomedical sciences.

If widely used, community-driven standards can help scientists to
broadly represent, annotate and share digital information in ways that
enable their re-use, reproducibility and further exploration. Did you

Funding for metadata support in biomedical software

Discussion in last Thursday's session at the plenary in Paris highlighted the importance of support for metadata in software tools used by biomedical researchers. I mentioned a request for applications in this area recently issued by the NIH BD2K program. The full details are available at the following link.

BioSharing Force11/RDA WG case statement - review from TAB, next steps

/(apologies for cross-posting) /
Dear Force11/RDA BioSharing WG members,
The co-chairs have just received *feedback from TAB *on the submitted
case statement: we need to address few questions on engagement,
development, and scope of the registry effort.
The co-chairs will do this - as it should be straight forward - and
re-submit; hopefully we can be approved before the next RDA Plenary.
Some of you already know that in a month a second Knowledge Engineer

Standards Information Resource (life sciences) - Invitation to contribute

Dear WG members,

our proposed activity is still under review, but meanwhile the work has progressed and will continue. Recently, we asked the opinion of BioSharing Advisory Group members on the suitability of three basic questions about how BioSharing is perceived and how they envision its use. The set of responses we have received has helped us create a questionnaire whose purpose is to let us know which enhancements are most important.
