Preprint on reproducibility feedback request (awarded RDA Europe adoption grant)

Dear all,

The Maneage project (MANaging data linEAGE: was awarded an RDA Europe Adoption grant last year for adopting the recommendations of the RDA/WDS Publishing Data Workflows Working Group from the researcher's perspective. In this time, thanks to RDA's support, we were able to present it in several international seminars, hold some workshops and increase its user base (and thus improve its implementation, documentation and etc).

I am happy to say that a draft paper describing its founding principles and the necessity of considering longevity in reproducible solutions has just been submitted to CiSE (titled "Towards Long-term and Archivable Reproducibility") and is available as a preprint on arXiv:2006.03018 (the most recent PDF, that has incorportated feedback after the arxiv-submission is also available).

Requesting your input: Research workflows informed by the intent to publish data

Greetings, all,
The RDA-WDS Data Publishing Workflows Working Group is looking for examples
of research workflows that demonstrate actions taken at earlier stages in
the research life-cycle (i.e. prior to scholarly publication), which
subsequently facilitate data sharing and publishing at a later stage.
We are collecting well-documented workflows that clearly describe or
depict, using non-specialist terms and/or visuals: who does what, what the
relevant steps are, what are their inputs and outputs, what tools are used

Re: [rdawds_workflows_wg] AW: [rdawds_workflows_wg] Development of Data Publishing...

Glad to hear that "PANGAEA is currently working on the definition of data
collection, so our group will be happy to contribute to some aspects."
Per the email earlier discussion this summer (as in the email chain below)
I think that it is important to explore the conceptual space that
distinguishes various aggregation and collection granularity ideas.
Some of the distinctions regarding aggregating data are pragmatic in that
they are based on the needs of users that are ongoing and routine or new.

AW: [rdawds_workflows_wg] Development of Data Publishing Vocabulary

Dear Gary, Sünje et al,
what has be the outcome of this communication. Reading through the mail I thought that a vocabulary would indeed extend some of the activities currently going on under the umbrella of the IG data publishing. In particular important is the definition of publication types. PANGAEA is currently working on the definition of data collection, so our group will be happy to contribute to some aspects.
What is the further planning?
