Re: RDA Ethics and Social aspects of UAS Data: proposal P15 ?

by Freyja van den Boom

Dear Group members I hope everyone is well and apologies for filling up inboxes (instead of stockings As Alison pointed out we did indeed asked if there was interest in this group to share your expertise and discuss ethical guidelines for the use of drones (UAS) and drone data for research purposes. You can find it under WELDD (the listserv doesnt allow me to post hyperlinks I think) Hurray we now have a page and are going through the motions to make it endorsed etc so lost of opportunities also to shape the work we want to commit to the next coming months.

Re: [ethics-social-aspects-ig] Re: [ethics-social-aspects-ig] Deadline For P15 Group Session Submissions Extended To 5 December 2019

by Alison Specht

Yes, I thought there was interest, but it was for the drone work, highly appropriate of course. I agree, I think the role of ethics is a bit hazy for the average scientist and researcher of various sorts especially with increasing use of AI and as you say, web scraping. It would be good to have something that would bring ethical implications to the fore, and the PARSEC project (that Anne is involved with) might be a nice case study? Among others, of course.

by Freyja van den Boom

Dear Group members, It was great to meet and see some of you again in person at P14 ! Looking very much forward to P15 to continue to work on some exciting (new) initiatives. I am currently involved in a new WG developing recommendations including ethical for research using (data from) Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). It came out of the IG group https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/small-unmanned-aircraft-systems%E2%80... We are currently working on the case statement
