Research Data Alliance (RDA) members no longer have to wait for a Plenary call for sessions to propose a Birds of a Feather (BoF).
The new BoF Online At Any Time option lets you submit a proposal whenever you’re ready… And, you can choose when to run your own virtual session.
A Birds of a Feather or BoF session is RDA’s format for testing community interest in a new topic not yet covered by an existing Working Group or Interest Group. BoFs provide a space to discuss ideas, network, and gauge whether there’s enough momentum to form a formal group.
With this new ‘BoF Online At Any Time’ option, any registered RDA member can apply, provided the proposal is led by at least two members and doesn’t overlap with an existing group. Proposals are reviewed by the Technical Advisory Board and should be submitted at least 8 weeks before your planned session. Approved sessions run up to 90 minutes online, are recorded, and are promoted on the RDA website and in the community newsletter where possible.
