The International Research Software Conference (IRSC) program is now available. Convened by the Research Software Alliance (ReSA), the conference takes place 7-8 September 2026 in Sheffield, UK, with remote participation available. IRSC26 is co-located with RSECon26 (9-11 September 2026).
IRSC26 is the first international conference dedicated to bringing together leaders and decision-makers from across the research software ecosystem to shape the future of sustainable, trustworthy, and impactful research software in the age of generative AI through fostering global cohesion, strengthening community connections, and advancing strategic impact.
The program features keynote presentations by Riva Quiroga, Research Fellow at OLS, co-founder of RSE Chile, Software Sustainability Institute Fellow, co-chair of Research Software Latinoamérica, and member of the RLadies+ Global Leadership Team; and Stefano Zacchiroli, Professor of Computer Science at Télécom Paris, Polytechnic Institute of Paris, and co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Software Heritage, the largest public archive of software source code.
With contributions from more than 50 organisations, the program includes talks, Birds of a Feather sessions, lightning talks, and plenary discussions covering research software sustainability, open source, AI, FAIR practices, software citation, funding, training, community building, and international collaboration.
