24th RDA Plenary – Daily Highlights | Day 3

Published on April 7, 2025

Day three is over and out – read on for the key takeaways from another packed day. We hope you enjoyed it!

Networking Session: Meet your match

At today’s VP24 networking session, attendees truly met their match. Through a series of groupings—expertly organised by RDA Community Engagement Manager Connie Clare—participants were challenged to explore what they had in common. Some shared ties to data stewardship, others came from the same region, and a few were attending an RDA Plenary for the very first time. Despite their diverse backgrounds, everyone came with the same goal: to meet new faces and make new connections. We hope you enjoyed the experience!

Look out for the next Meet your Match session, at a timezone convenient for attendees in Asia/Oceania.

Plenary Session: Data for AI –  Impact, Reproducibility, and Trust

Two superb speakers explored how high-quality data underpins effective and trustworthy AI applications in healthcare and life sciences. Speakers Giulia Raffaella De Luca and Gavin Michael Farrell offered a comprehensive look at both domain-specific and systemic challenges in data-driven AI.

Guilia emphasised that data quality and standardisation are central to building trustworthy AI in healthcare, with a particular focus on lung cancer screening. Gavin explored issues facing machine learning in life sciences, particularly around reproducibility, reusability, and sustainability.
