The RDA has grown significantly since its inception in 2013, and must now develop a new financial sustainability model, as original sources of seed funding are no longer available or sufficient to keep running the organisation. In December 2020, the RDA Council set up a Financial Sustainability Task Force to openly investigate a series of different financial and business models.
In January 2021, the RDA Council Nominations Committee issued a call for nominations for three open Council positions. In response to this call, several RDA members were nominated for consideration by the RDA community. The Nominations Committee reviewed these submissions and announced the slate of candidates to the RDA community. This new slate meets all criteria as detailed in the Council Nominations Committee Selection Process and Guidelines and must now be approved by the RDA membership.

An unconference is an unstructured event scheduled on the fly depending on the needs and interests of people on the day. The idea is to allow the attendees greater flexibility to shape the programme so they get something useful from the event. You can run group discussions, work together on creating common resources, provide tutorials and share the issues you are facing in a safe space to get advice and support from peers.
The unconference will be run on Tuesday 20th April from 3-5pm

With heavy hearts, we relay the shocking, sad news shared by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) on Sunday: Dr. Peter Fox died on March 27, 2021.
The Earth and space science informatics community lost a titan. We want to express our condolences to his partner, Erica Veil, his family, and his colleagues at RPI Tetherless World Constellation (TWC) including his current and past research group members and all of his collaborators.
The Data Together (four major international dat)a organisations outline how the RDA Global Open Research Commons (GORC) and Global Open Science Cloud (GOSC) fit together within the framework of the Data Together Collaboration.
