Sharing links between the published literature and datasets is crucial to achieve the full potential of research data publishing. This article presents the coordination and implementation efforts of the ICSU-WDS/RDA Data Publishing Services Working Group (DPS-WG) and the OpenAIRE infrastructure towards realizing and operating the DLI Service, an open and one-for-all data-literature interlinking service.
Last week, RDA/US held its Fellow Orientation Workshop at Indiana University for its Data Share program. The scholars program, formed earlier this year through grant funding from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, was designed to encourage adoption of RDA’s best practices for data sharing by early career professionals and enhance their engagement with the alliance.
Earlier this month, several members of the Research Data Alliance had the pleasure of attending and participating in the 41st IASSIST Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With the theme “Bridging the Data Divide: Data in the International Context,” the conference provided an ideal venue for RDA members to exchange perspectives with attendees on numerous data-related challenges and trends as well as share recent accomplishments of the RDA.
The RDA 6th Plenary Climate Change Data Challenge has entered its second phase as the Call for Enterprise engagement is now open. A catalogue of the datasets received from different global organisations has been made available to enterprises for the creation of novel and innovative solutions in areas covering air quality, energy and urban activity.
The WDS Data Stewardship Award highlights exceptional contributions to the improvement of scientific data stewardship by early career researchers through their engagement with the community, academic achievements, and innovations.
Open Data Is Not Enough - Mark Parsons, RDA Secretary General gives the keynote lecture at conference “Open Research Data: Implications for Science and Society”, Warsaw, Poland, May 28–29, 2015. The ORD2015 Conference was organised by the Open Science Platform — an initiative of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling at the University of Warsaw.
This short, anonymous poll, targeted at researchers, aims to characterize the range of research data management tools that are used across domains and regions. It is being conducted by Research Data Alliance (RDA) Long Tail of Research Data Interest Group.
The experimentation day, to be held during Research Data Alliance Plenary 6 on 24 September 2015, is dedicated to foster connection/interaction between RDA members and startups, SMEs and large companies to promote enterprise engagement in RDA. With around 70% of RDA members coming from academic organizations, attracting more enterprise involvement in the data ecosystem is key for future development of the Alliance.
The 6th Plenary Call for Session proposals is open until June 20th midnight CEST. Requests will be built into the program for the Plenary 6 in Paris, France, September 23-25, 2015.
