Stephen Diggs

Steve Diggs is a Visiting Scholar at UC San Diego’s Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where he spent more than three decades building and leading international oceanographic data systems. His career spans hydrographic field expeditions, enterprise data infrastructure, digital preservation, and—most urgently now—the coordinated rescue and resilience of climate datasets.

Steve chairs the Climate/Ocean Data Action Network (CO-DAN) and the Data Management Subcommittee of the Southern Ocean Observing System, and serves on governance bodies including several UN Ocean Decade committees. He co-founded the World Ocean Database International Partnership (WOD FLOW) and is an active member of RDA, CODATA, and ESIP.
