Sophie Fortuno is the lead researcher for the NUM-DATA project on digital technology and data in temperate and tropical forest socio-ecosystems, part of France's 2030 Priority Research Program and Equipment (PEPR FORESTT) on Forest Resilience. Previously, she was policy officer for open science and research data at CIRAD (Center for International Cooperation in Agricultural Research for Development), France. As a computer science research engineer at the TETIS (Territories, Environment, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information) laboratory, her main activity is related to the field of Information Sciences. She has been working for more then ten years on Open Research Data and is particularly interested in the governance of scientific data and information in socio-technical systems.

Sophie Fortuno est pilote du projet ciblé NUM-DATA sur le numérique et les données des socio-écosystèmes forestiers tempérés et tropicaux du Programme et Equipements Prioritaires de Recherche France 2030 sur la Résilience des forêts (PEPR FORESTT). Auparavant elle était chargée de mission pour la science ouverte et les données de la recherche de recherche au Cirad (Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement), France.
Ingénieure de recherche en informatique au sein du laboratoire TETIS (Territoires, Environnement, Télédétection et Information Spatiale), son activité principale est liée au domaine des Sciences de l'Information, travaillant depuis une dizaine d'année sur l'Open Research Data et s'intéressant plus spécifiquement à la gouvernance des données scientifiques et de l'information dans des dispositifs socio-techniques.
