Seonyoung Kim
Dr. Seonyoung Kim is a Senior Support Scientist in the Data Management and Sharing Services Group at the Bernard Becker Medical Library. She conducts webinars on data management and sharing policies, provides tailored consultations, assists in creating data management and sharing plans, and advises on selecting suitable repositories for various data types. Seonyoung also supports data submission (e.g., data curation) and facilitates access to restricted datasets (e.g., Data Transfer and Use Agreements) shared through the WashU Medicine institutional data repository, Digital Commons Data@Becker. Additionally, she promotes best practices in data management and sharing for open science, authors blog posts, updates the BeckerDMS website, and curates content for the Becker DMS newsletter.
Seonyoung serves as the administrator of the WashU DMPTool and actively contributes to the national DMPTool-NIH Template Working Group, helping develop NIH DSMP templates and guidance. With over 25 years of experience, she has worked in both academic and industry research settings. Before joining Becker Library, she managed the WUSM In Vivo Imaging Core, specializing in 3D/4D imaging data capture, analysis, and archiving. Her career includes roles at the University of Michigan, MinMed, Allergan, and Monsanto, where she focused on protein purification, formulation development, analytical method validation, and stability evaluation.
Seonyoung holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of California, Irvine, and an MS/BS in Chemistry from Seoul National University.
