I've been involved with the development of electronic lab notebooks for the past 15 years, for the past 8 as CEO of Research Space, which provides the RSpace ELN. RSpace is distinguished by an open architecture which enables connectivity and inter-operability with other research tools and researchers. A particular focus is on integrations with data repositories, including Dataverse and Figshare, enabling data produced in the active research phase to be seamlessly transferred to repositories like these and hence made available for public sharing and query, in line with FAIR principles. We work closely with data librarians and research data managers in introducing RSpace to university research communities and exploring ways in which it can work with and complement other research resources .
