Morane Gruenpeter

After several years as a professional harpist in Israel, Morane embarked on a new journey in software engineering. Her transition led her to the Software Heritage team in 2017, as she pursued a Master’s degree in Computer Science at University Pierre et Marie Curie. Throughout 2018-2019, she furthered her research in partnership with the European EU2020 CROSSMINER project, delving into the software metadata challenge and constructing the Semantic Web of FOSS.

Morane's primary responsibility revolves around representing Software Heritage and the INRIA research center in several European projects. Her involvement began in 2020 with the FARsFAIR project, where she acted as a liaison to the Open Science community. In 2022, her role evolved as she assumed leadership responsibilities as the Work Package co-lead in the FAIRCORE4EOSC project, WP6 Services and tools to archive, reference, describe and cite research software and took on the role of Task lead in the FAIR-IMPACT project, T4.3

Morane's commitment extends to the realm of Open Science and digital preservation. She holds roles as co-chair in the Research Data Alliance’s Software Source Code Interest Group (SSC IG) and the chair of the Project Management Committee of the CodeMeta initiative. In the past she also held roles such as co-chair for the joint FAIR for Research Software Working Group (FAIR4RS WG), and task force co-lead in the FORCE11 Software Citation Implementation Working Group (SCI WG). Her commitment is also reflected in her participation in the WikiData for Digital Preservation Working Group (WikiDigi) and in the Software Preservation Network (SPN) collaboration.

Morane holds the role of project manager for the software deposit service, overseeing a spectrum of partnerships with entities such as the CCSD-HAL, IPOL, eLife, CERN—InvenioRDM, SwMath, Dagstuhl, and others. Her responsibilities encompass guiding the development of APIs and connectors, extending user support, and orchestrating comprehensive planning and testing efforts.

Starting from 2021, Morane has taken on the role of coordinating the SWHAP & Software Stories project, working in close collaboration with sciencestories.io and Pisa University, and with the support of UNESCO. In 2022, she orchestrated with Elisabeta Mori the inaugural SWHAP Days event at Sorbonne University, in collaboration with LIP6. Moreover, Morane played an integral role as a member of the event planning committee for the Software Heritage Symposium and Community Workshop in both 2021 and 2023.
