Katarzyna Biernacka

Katarzyna Biernacka holds a degree in computer science from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In her diploma thesis she designed a 3D scanner based on Kinect. Her strong interest in digital tools and the new forms of learning shaped her research interest. In the winter of 2015/2016 she joined Prof. Pinkwart's research group, where she has been conducting research in the field of mobile information and communication technologies in teaching using the example of Latin America. Between 2017 and 2019, she cooperatively developed a train-the-trainer program within the joint research project FDMentor (https://hu.berlin/fdmentor) to enhance competences in RDM. Since February 2019, she has been a research assistant at the Computer Science Department and conducts research in the field of "Publication of Research Data - Research Integrity - Privacy" where she tries to find out what kind of barriers scientists face and how to deal with them (https://hu.berlin/kbiernacka). In particular, she tries to find out whether the legal regulations prevent the publication of research data or whether it is the unfamiliarity with the laws and the resulting uncertainty of the scientists when dealing with data (especially sensitive).
In addition to her research, Katarzyna, as an advocate of Open Science, offers various workshops on research data management, train-the-trainer for research data management, open science and offers advice on open data (https://www.discipline-workshops.com/). Furthermore, she is the chair for the Training and Further Education Sub-Working Group (part of the German DINI/nestor Working Group on Research Data) where various training models and materials for research data management are developed.
