PAL, Jiban K. (b.1972): is an open science advocate, a habilitated sociologist of science, and a founding member of the Re3data Editorial Board. He earned his Ph.D. in Scientometrics from the University of Calcutta and was a Visiting Fellow at ICTP-Trieste, Italy. He has been serving at the Indian Statistical Institute for more than twenty years, and he currently acts as the Nodal Officer for the Indian Research Information Network System, Government of India.
Dr. Pal is an elected member of both the FORCE11 Board of Directors and ISI Governing Council, and he also serves as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Research Metrics and Analytics. He always brings a thoughtful approach and he likes to listen to everyone for a rational and inclusive decision. He has authored many influential papers indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.
In recognition of his contributions, he received the prestigious InfoShare Award from ASIS&T, USA in 2021. His research interests include digital archiving, metadata engineering, open science, FAIR data management, health informatics, RRA, and scientometrics.
