Clement Jonquet
Dr. Clement Jonquet, PhD in Informatics, is senior researcher at INRAE in the MISTEA research unit and former associate professor and researcher at University of Montpellier in the LIRMM laboratory. He was postdoc (3 years) and later visiting scholar (3 years) at Stanford BMIR lab. He has 20 years of experience in ontologies and semantic Web research applied to biomedicine and agri-food. He works, on the design and development of ontology repositories (aka semantic artefact catalogues), ontology-based services, knowledge graphs and symbolic AI. He was PI or Co-PI of several important projects such as MSCA SIFRm, ANR D2KAB and HEU FAIR-IMPACT. Since 2015, he leads AgroPortal (https://agroportal.eu), a reference vocabulary and ontology repository for agri-food and co-lead the OntoPortal Alliance. He is also involved in semantics related activities for the development of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) –especially as WP-lead in FAIR-IMPACT. In 2026, he is involved in 6 Horizon / Digital Europe projects (e.g., FIDELIS) related to EOSC or the data spaces (CEADS). Dr. Jonquet is the (co)author of 200 publications or communications cumulating more than 4820 citations, including 33 international journals in multiple domains.
