Introduction :
Data stewards or ambassadors networks are a growing trend in research data management. They provide bridges between scientific communities, local specificities and personal experience, while distributing the load of research support. They also provide a framework to improve the global data management in the network leveraging a larger number and diversity of profiles and expertises.
These network are starting at various levels (institutional, in communities, national, regional). While these scales and network all have their legitimate specificities, we know researcher are facing similar difficulties to manage data. We also know, these numerous networks don’t usually know exactly how the other networks work.
Today, it seems to be important to make links between communities, to allow these network to, in turn, form a network of networks.
We would like open the discussion to share practices between networks and learn each others, benefiting from all of these experiences.
Objectives :
Our purpose is to gather networks, discuss and share experiences.
After this meeting, we wish to make links between networks with aims to create an interest group to continue to share on this thematic.
We could make an inventory of existing types of networks on the 5 continents and discuss on feedback (e.g. large or small networks, community-based or transversal, aligned with existing organizations or not,…).
We will also discuss the importance of creating this kind of network to help researchers.
Together we also could help and support communities who would like to create new networks to support researchers, like colleagues from the University of Geneva.
