Meeting of stakeholders involved in the International Coalition on Science Gateways to discuss the Coalition’s short and long-term goals. The meeting agenda is now available.
The International Coalition on Science Gateways’ vision is to provide an international forum for the science gateways community to:
- Provide leadership on future directions for science gateways
- Facilitate awareness of international, regional and national developments in science gateways
- Identify and share best practice in the field
The International Coalition on Science Gateways works in collaboration with the RDA Interest Group in Virtual Research Environments (VRE-IG) to bring together organisations, forums and individuals with an interest in international, regional, national, cross-institutional, domain-specific, and interdisciplinary initiatives in science gateways. A Science Gateway (or Virtual Research Environment/Virtual Laboratory) is a community-developed set of tools, applications, and data collections that are integrated through a tailored web-based environment. As data collections become both larger and more complex, the role of software applications in working with the data also becomes more critical. Improving access to data through environments like Science Gateways/Virtual Laboratories/VREs is thus critical to reducing barriers to data interoperability.
Registration is required beofre 11 September, 2017.
