Meeting title:

Annual PID-IG gathering of PID Practitioners

A short introduction describing the activities and the scope of the group:

The pervasive use of persistent identifiers (PIDs) is seen as a foundational element in anchoring and referencing research data in an interoperable way. The purpose of the Persistent Identifier Interest Group is to synchronize identifier-related efforts, address important and emerging PID-related topics and coordinate activities, including appropriate RDA Working Groups, to practically solve PID-related issues from the engaged communities.

Since our last meeting in September 2016, the PID community has hosted the first PIDapalooza meeting, a working group on organization identifiers has been launched, conversations have started on extending DOIs to a number of research activities – and a service has been launched to host a resolving service for existing identifiers. There is a lot to talk about, and many opportunities for cross-work between these activities can be fostered at the RDA plenary.
