    1.  Chris Erdman, Michael J. Fox Foundation:  PIDS and Tools overview + funder perspective
    2.  Three case studies:

Maria Praetzellis, DMPTool and Sonia Barbosa, Harvard Dataverse:  New developments with PIDS in and between data mangement plans and respositories:
Jens Klump, CSIRO,  Rory Macneil, Research Spac, and Shawn Ross, FAIMS: Associating IGSNS with sample data in two interoperable tools:  FAIMS and RSpace
Xiaoli Chen, Datacite:  Update on the FAIR Workflows Project involving incorproration of Datacite DOIS into tools used throughoutt the research lifecycle

    3.  Discussion including presenters and session attendees led by Chris Erdmann.  The discussion will aim to delve deeper into issues and challenges raised by the presenters, get attendee perspectives, and discover others who are addressing these issues from both the PIDS and the tools perspectives.  This input will be incorporated into planning for future sessions at dedicated quarterly meetings of the IG and at the next session of the IG planned for International Data Week in Salzburg.

    PID IG

Brief introduction describing the activities and scope of the group
Lack of interoperability between tools/e-infrastructures presents a significant barrier to streamlining processes throughout the research lifecycle. These gaps prevent the comprehensive collection and incorporation of research data and metadata into the research record captured during the active research phase. Furthermore, it limits the scope for passing this data and metadata on to data repositories, thus undermining FAIR data principles and reproducibility. This IG is proposed as:

A place to address interoperability between tools/e-infrastructures, leveraging PID and metadata infrastructure.
A platform for research-supporting service providers and PID/open infrastructure organizations to outline use cases, explore challenges, and pool resources to provide reference and guidance to chart ways forward.
A forum for dissecting the interoperability challenges through discussion of concrete case studies involving application of PIDS to tools in multiple communities of practice.

    Meeting objectives
    1.  Introduce the new Working with PIDS in Tools IG.
    2.  Develop interest among RDA members in the IG through presenting three concrete exaamples of working with PIDS in tools.
    3.  Explore issues relating to passage of metadata, particularly PIDS, between interoperabe research tools and e-infrastructures.
    4.  Provide an oportunity for PIDS providers and providers of research tools and e-infrastructures to meet and explore issues of mutual interest.
