Meeting objectives

  • Introduce the group and previous work to interested participants

  • Work on the IG Charter which we plan to submit after the VP22 session:

    • Provide draft Charter for discussion with participants

    • Finalise the scope of the group

    • Finalise 12-month work plan including outputs and outcomes

    • Finalise leadership and how we will work together

  • Engage new members

Meeting agenda

  • Welcome, introductions and brief background to the group (10 mins)

  • 1-2 lightning talks to set the scene (10 mins). 

    • Andrew Treloar, The Global Open Research Commons IG: Work to date and future plans
      This talk will provide an overview of the work of the Global Open Research Commons (GORC) Interest Group and the recently completed GORC International Model Working Group. The talk will describe the typology of essential elements developed by the GORC-IG as well as the case studies used to develop the International Model.

  • Discussion of key components of the Charter:

    • User scenario(s) or use case(s) and objectives of the group – what are we trying to address and why? (20 mins)

    • Communities and how we will engage these communities (10 mins)

    • Expected outcomes (10 mins)

    • Draft milestones and goals for the first 12 months (15 mins)

    • Coordination and leadership, including how often the group will meet and when (10 mins)

  • Wrap-up and next steps

Users, providers, funders of Digital Research Infrastructures and anyone else interested in the topic.

Short Group Status

This IG follows on from a BoF session held at RDA Plenary 21 / IDW in Salzburg, Austria, in October 2023, where a number of participants expressed an interest in establishing an RDA group on this topic. Another BoF session on this topic was held prior to the RDA P21 session, at eResearch Australasia in Brisbane, Australia, in October 2023.

Brief recap of the RDA P21 session

The session aimed to bring together participants with an interest in understanding and capturing the uptake of Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) and to gauge interest in this topic. The topic of Understanding and Capturing the Uptake of Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) was introduced in three short presentations and led to a lively discussion of e.g how to define uptake and success of DRIs, and how to encourage users to refer to DRIs in their published work.

Key outcomes/actions/takeaways

The group is currently recruiting new members and developing a draft Charter for discussion at the RDA Plenary 22 session, as described above.
