To give an overview of the new Salmon Research and Monitoring Interest Group objectives, progress so far on membership growth, and development of working group topics.

Target audience

Marine and Freshwater Biologists, Oceanographers, Physical Environmental Scientists, Research Technologists. We are also keen to draw in salmon researchers who are not yet part of RDA.

Group Activities and Scope

The Salmon Research and Monitoring Interest Group intends to triage salmon data mobilisation challenges, breaking them down into manageable concepts and form Working Groups that can develop recommendations and real-world solutions.

Short Group Status

Our Interest Group was “Recognised and Endorsed” at the tail end of 2024. We have had one group meeting (Dec. 2024) which included existing members and potential members from the salmon research and monitoring community and involved spreading the word and thinking about Working Groups to move forward with in 2025.
