     Dear colleagues,
as you are certainly aware we will hold another session of the Photon and Neutron Science Interest Group (PaNSIG) and also “co-host” a highly interesting joint meeting of the “IG RDA/CODATA Materials Data, Infrastructure & Interoperability, IG Chemistry Research Data, IG Research data needs of the Photon and Neutron Science community” at the upcoming RDA plenary in Tokyo(*).

The agenda has meanwhile been settled, see below for more information(*):

The PaNSIG session is taking place Wed March 2nd 11:00-12:30 in Room 101
The joint session  is taking place Wed March 2nd 15:00-16:30 in Conference Room 1

To quote from the PaNSIG session abstract(*):
“This session is aiming to bring users and key facility people together under the RDA umbrella and exchange status, challenges and opportunities from user facilities around the world. With the RDA meeting being held in Japan, the session offers the opportunity to increase participation from Asia and Australia.”

So if you happen to be at the RDA plenary, we would like to invite you to take part in the (hopefully fruitful) discussions and in particular to present your challenging problems around scientific data, exciting current developments or best data practices and policies at your facility; to share insights in issues and solutions for example with increasing data volumes, complexities of (real-time) data analysis, rapid data acquisition, data publications & sharing and other aspects of data management (or whatever comes to your mind).

If you are interested in joining the session of the Photon and Neutron Interest Group and/or the joint meeting just come along, but we’d love to hear from you beforehand (RDA registration doesn’t provide any such information). If you’re ready to give a short presentation that would be highly appreciated; please let us know (see contacts below)!

Please forward the invitation to anyone potentially interested. Looking forward meeting you in Tokyo.
