UNESCO-CODATA Webinar: Shaping Resilient Futures: Open Science and Data Policies for Crisis Preparedness, Response, and Recovery; Thursday 16 January 2025, 13:00 to 14:30 CET (12:00 to 13:30 UTC)
I am pleased to share with you the description, agenda, and speakers’ biographies for this Thursday’s UNESCO-CODATA webinar, “Shaping Resilient Futures: Open Science and Data Policies for Crisis Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.” The webinar will take place this Thursday, 16 January 2025, from 13:00 to 14:30 CET (12:00 to 13:30 UTC). You can register for the webinar using this link..
This webinar will present the findings from UNESCO’s global consultation on the development of data policies for times of crisis, a key focus of the UNESCO-CODATA DPTC Project. Framed by the UNESCO UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science, the project contributes to the UNESCO Open Science Toolkit, offering practical resources to promote transparent, equitable, and reliable data practices during crises.
The webinar offers valuable insights into addressing ethical and practical challenges in the collection, analysis, and sharing of data during emergencies. These resources emphasize key considerations such as inclusivity, respect for local contexts, and safeguarding sensitive information, all of which are critical to ensuring ethical governance and responsible innovation in digital technologies and data use.
By focusing on actionable tools and frameworks, the webinar highlights strategies to enable researchers, technologists, policymakers, and institutions to adopt robust, ethical practices that align with international frameworks. The initiative is especially relevant for those operating in contexts where crises exacerbate vulnerabilities, underscoring the importance of resilient and equitable data governance.
We hope you can join this important discussion as we collectively shape the future of data and digital technologies for crisis preparedness and response.
With apologies for cross-posting.
Kind regards,
Francis
