    Researchers in the United States also may be able to rely on the fair use provision contained in the Copyright Act, noting in particular the Codes of Best Practice in Fair Use established for various scholarly communities (Association of Research Libraries, Code of Best Practices in Fair Use,…). In the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries, researchers may be able to use the fair dealing defense.

    It may just be me but I often receive emails on this list that seem to have no context. I am not picking on this thread … I am just curious if I am missing out on portions of conversation for some technical reason.
