April 24th. The Research Data Insider: Making research FAIR – From principles to policy to practice

Webinar Friday 24th April 2026, 09:00 – 09:30 CET
Description: This edition of the Research Data Insider will focus on a recently published PhD thesis (2024) in science and technology studies on the structural implementation of the FAIR principles. Since its formal launch in 2016, the concept of FAIR has become a central element in European research policies – making it mandatory for publicly funded research projects to share their data in a findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable manner. While these prescriptions seem simple enough, academic practice has not followed suit. In this talk, Rasmus Kvaal Wardemann presents his thesis which aims to answer why that is, and what happens as FAIR moves from principles to policy to practice.
About the speaker:  Although Rasmus Kvaal Wardemann is currently working as a senior adviser at the Norwegian Research Council, he will be presenting here as an alumni of the University of Vienna.
