September 26th. Research Data Insider. Research Catalogue: Metadata as Context, Context as Metadata

Webinar Friday 26th September 2025, 09:00-09:30 CEST

The Research Catalogue (RC) is a non-commercial collaboration and publishing platform for artistic research outcomes, provided by the Society for Artistic Research. The RC is free to use and accessible to artists and researchers. It also serves as a backbone for journal publications, teaching, student assessment, peer review workflows, and research funding administration.

A unique aspect of the Research Catalogue is its format: instead of presenting research outcomes in PDFs or other text-oriented formats, authors can create customisable webpages called expositions. These allow authors to use rich media to present artistic materials, methodologies, resulting works and references in a customised structure shaped to fit the distinct demands of each project.

Casper Schipper will present the existing approach to metadata within the RC, as well as ongoing efforts to refine and expand metadata in the platform.

Casper Schipper (NL) is a software developer and computer musician who is currently serving as managing officer for the Research Catalogue.
