    Hi Hugh,
I agree with the approach you propose. Personally I would list both yourself and Claire Austin to round out the list of three authors in light of your extensive work in drafting the document.
I would also broach the topic of a longer (i.e. everyone) list of authors with the editors in the submission letter or supplementary documentation.

    Dear all
the text of the correspondence to Nature has been finalised and can be found here . To note the correspondence text is supposed to be 250 words and the accompanying text (all sent by email) is 100 words. If possible please send comments by 12:00 Eastern Time. A few points to make here
    * guidelines on this is for three authors and it cannot be from an organisation. I propose that Hilary be the single author representing the RDA (we could have the chairs of the WG instead but that is six names then).
    * I need to be clear that the situation is moving quite rapidly and we should get this out the door by EOB tomorrow. Additional commentaries are coming in o Nature which necessitates changes in the text. Today we needed to do a more or less complete rewrite in the light of a new commentary published in Nature this week. Given that, being blunt, there is a limited chance of success here (a non-zero probability but let us say closer to 0 than 1) and that as time passes that chance gets smaller, it’s not in our interest to agonise over this text. Hence I politely request minor rather than major amendments.
    All the best
    Hugh
