Dear Professionalising Data Stewardship IG members,
We’ll be holding our next IG monthly online meetings next Friday, 24th February, 1300-1400 UTC.
This follows on from last month’s ‘Reflections and Connections’ online meeting which heard back from our active 5 task groups and their outputs to date and fed into a discussion about possible aveues for the direction of travel for the IG.
The discussions at the last meeting had a strong thread around career pathways, in terms of the need to help define job profiles as well as having clear pathways people can progress over time to aid recruitment, growth and retention.  These can be supported by better established training and accreditation options. The work of the Career Paths and Training TGs are suited to feed into these alongside the EOSC TF too as working together will help to strengthen the standing of recommendations from this work to stakeholders/policy makers. Additionally, there were comments around increasing the accessibility of the group both in terms of input and outputs. It is something that the co-chairs ought to seek guidance on from RDA secretariat, though there were some good suggestions about providing summaries of the IG as a whole, how the parts/outputs connect to the central aims and key diagrams/highlights being available beyond English.
Next Friday’s IG meeting will be a chance to further discuss the avenues around People as Professional Data Stewards and look forward to the 20th RDA Plenary in Gothenberg, where we have a joint session: ‘Community Engagement That Works! Examining tools and success stories of pathways to Engagement in Community-led organisations at a global level’ . We hope this will also give members of our IG a chance to meet in person too.

Please do share the invite to others who are interested in joining the IG – this is a great time to get involved and we look forward to your inputs.
Zoom meeting links can be found here:
We look forward to your contributions.
Finally, the co-chairs would like to express our thanks to Debora Drucker as she steps down as co-chair. She’s been a valued member of the co-chairs team and contributor to the IG as whole and to the Business Case Task Group in particular over the past few years. Thanks Debora for your work and all the best in your other ventures!
