What are the desirable characteristics of trustworthy PIDs and PID Systems? It’s a question that has been asked very often and there have been many answers over the years.
In 2016, a group of data experts in RDA met in 2016 to develop assertions about the nature, the creation and the usage of Persistent Identifiers (PIDs). One of their outputs was list of attributes for PID systems (https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.1116189)
10 years later, the NISO U.S. National PID Strategy Working Group (https://niso.org/standards-committees/uspids) is deep in discussion on this same topic aiming to develop an information standard that codifies the normative requirements for PIDs and PID Systems.
This session will take a deep dive into these discussions and examine how global perspectives on PIDs have changed over the last ten years.
This will be an interactive session inviting discussions on attributes such as uniqueness, resolution, metadata, interoperability, governance, sustainability, transparency, accessibility, provenance, security & integrity, community alignment and trustworthiness
