Hello, colleagues. The PIDapalooza 2021 submission deadline is closing November 6. Please consider submitting a proposal!
Launched in 2016, PIDapalooza is the first (and, as far as we know, still the only!) conference focused exclusively on persistent identifiers and the communities that love, use, and need them. Designed as a festival-themed celebration, PIDapalooza has never been a regular conference, and #PIDapalooza21 is in keeping with that spirit.
The #PIDapalooza21 broadcast will go live on January 27 at 14:30 UTC (see the time in your location here). Over the following 24 hours, the program will feature short, interactive presentations for and by both PID experts and PID newbies, including “PIDs 101” topics, region-specific sessions, and social breaks. You can hop in and out of the virtual platform as your schedules permit, or make it a marathon and stay online (and awake) for the full 24-hour experience! Registration for #PIDapalooza21 will be free and tickets will be available later in November.
If you have a persistent identifier story to share, consider submitting a proposal at This year’s overall theme is PIDs and Open Research Infrastructure, with tracks for identifier basics, implementation successes, regional and disciplinary communities, and general celebrations of PIDs.
PIDapalooza is brought to you by California Digital Library, Crossref, DataCite, NISO, and ORCID. Learn more about PIDapalooza at
