Open session notes

This meeting will build on the discussion at IDW 2025 which clarified the definition of a national data service and the scope of activity for this IG. The focus of the meeting  will be to hear from existing National Data Services to share challenges they are facing. The meeting will then provide an opportunity to hear from those present about solutions they have found useful.

Group Activities and Scope

The IG’s initial objectives were to arrive at and consolidate a common understanding of the scope of national data services (now agreed) and serve as a forum for exchange on best practice. A second strand of activities relates to the Global Open Research Commons (GORC). The IG aims to identify the common elements across national data services by abstracting these from a number of GORC International Model  implementation profiles. This may also suggest ways  to improve the GORC IM with elements gathered through the profile process.

Short Group Status

After having been in hibernation for a couple of years, the group was re-activated at P24 and met at IDW 2025/P25
