  • Members of IGs to whom we have mapped (e.g., Evaluation of Research IG)
  • New members from jurisdictions beyond Europe/UK/Australia
  • Individuals working with, supporting others working with, or otherwise interested in ‘non-traditional’ data/outputs/materials/narratives and addressing their infrastructural challenges

Group Activities and Scope

The Infrastructure for Non-Traditional Research Outputs & Processes (Infra4NTROs) Interest Group addresses research outputs created through creative practice and multimodal research methodologies – specifically focusing on describing what is created, how it is created, and who is creating it – where current information standards and structures provide inadequate representation.

The group has now met twice with meetings planned for December 2025, January 2026 and Feb 2026 before leading into VP26 in March.

We have identified 3 key areas of work: use cases which will enable engagement with other groups and underpin a planned gap analysis (including infrastructure and skills frameworks). Underpinned by communication. We will be using the next 3 meetings to share two examples (UK, Netherlands), invite additional use cases, then bring three of these to VP26.

We aim to convene in person in London at P27 with the group currently very focussed on Europe and UK with some input from Australia and we aim to use VP26 to reach jurisdictions outside this group (while continuing engagement with those already involved from these existing communities). We have begun connecting with other RDA Groups. Prior to approval we met with the Software as Source Code WG and have now made contact with the Research Evaluation IG. Other priority groups include Collections as Data (meeting to be scheduled) and Complex Citations IG. However we see crossover with quite a few RDA Groups – it’s more about prioritisation in line with the use cases we identify.

Short Group Status

Endorsed/established in October 2025. First meeting at P25 in Brisbane and first non-plenary meeting in Nov 2025. Dec 2025 meeting planned to inform priority deliverables for 2026 – identified thus far as use cases, gap analysis and skills framework. Meetings in Jan and Feb 2026 will provide foundation for VP26 session.
