This group session showcases the current state of the use-case collection and presents the initial version of the taxonomy for mappings. The goal of the session is on one hand to encourage members to contribute new use-cases by showing representative and documented examples and on the other hand to solicit feedback on the first developments towards the mapping ontology deliverable.

Target audience

This session is of interest to anyone who has been or is involved with creating, maintaining and/or using mappings in any shape or form. Especially, if you are unsure whether you are working with mappings or not.

Group Activities and Scope

FAIR Mappings group has organized BoF in p21 and p22 and based on the discussions and feedback collected during and between those events the statement of work for the groups was formulated and was submitted for TAB review during summer 2024. The latest BoF session arranged at p23 presented the concrete plans for the first outputs and initial work of the group. The group organized a roundtable meeting with RDA co-chairs to facilitate collaboration between groups in December 2024 and started its regular bi-weekly meetings in January 2025.

Short Group Status

The group was approved by TAB in January 2025 and is waiting for Council endorsement, but the work has already started during the latter half of 2024.
