    Dear IG members,

We wanted to briefly recap on P20 news, and update you as we begin to plan for the P21 Salzburg plenary meeting in October.

    1. Thank you once again to everyone who attended our meeting at P20 in Göteborg in March!  The notes are available here.  At least two participants were interested in setting up focus groups from the list of suggested topics:

    a) Proposed focus group: Learning Outcomes – Further material documentation/metadata for data curation in research should include learning outcomes which demonstrate data probity, attribution, and process, including differentiation based on discipline, data type, methodology, etc (e.g., quantitative vs qualitative; archaeology vs zoology; required restrictions).  Coordinator: Gavin Chait. gchait@whythawk.com

    b) Proposed focus group: Landscape Overview – Create a landscape overview of what learning materials are currently broadly available, and then identify gaps on different facets, e.g., topic, audience, language, discipline, etc.  Coordinator: Andrea Medina-Smith. andrea.medina-smith@nist.gov

Please contact Andrea or Gavin directly if you are interested in working on either focus group. In the past, focus groups from our IG have been successful in having their outputs adopted, so this is a good way to make real progress and meet new colleagues.

    2. We are delighted to have two new co-chair volunteers.  Firstly, the co-chair team is joined by Dr. Jeanne Wilbrandt, Data Steward, Leibniz Institute on Aging — Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) Jena, Germany.  Then in June, we will also be joined by Magda Szuflita-Żurawska from Gdańsk University Library, Poland, who is Head of Scientific and Technological Information Section and the Open Science Competence Center.  Let’s send a warm welcome to the new co-chairs!

    3. We are still keen to have co-chairs from beyond Europe. If that is you or someone you know, please to get in touch with any of the current co-chairs – thank you.

Thank you as always for your participation in the ETHRD-IG!

Best wishes from your co-chairs Amy, Jeanne, Kati and Laura
