The Earth, Space and Environmental science (ESES) community is focused on improving data and software management and sharing practices that result in our researchers having access to community informatics resources that support their research. This Community of Practice (CoP) provides a place for individuals, teams and organisations in the Earth, space, and environmental research ecosystem to coordinate on common challenges, share information, review and consider RDA Recommendations, seek leading practices, and work towards finding approaches to discipline-specific challenges and issues around data and software management and sharing. The international Earth, space, and environmental community is broad and includes researchers, data managers, data curators, institutions, instrument creators and manufacturers, software developers, tools, repositories, journal editors and more. 

In this session we will conduct our first meeting and kickoff off the initial project focused on discipline-specific data and software management guidance.

Meeting agenda: 

• 0-5 Minutes (5 minutes): Welcome (Danie Kinkade)
• 5-15 Minutes (10 minutes); Introduction to the CoP (Shelley Stall)
• 15-25 Minutes (10 minutes); Review the organization and project community catalogs (Lesley Wyborn)
• 25-75 Minutes (50 Minutes) Introduction of the first project and establish the initial working groups. (Fully Interactive session with the audience)
• 75-85 minute (10 minutes) Logistics information for the proposed Working Groups  (Lesley Wyborn)
• 85-90 Minutes (5 minutes): Wrap up and next steps.
